Dance of Words

Standing naked to the soul
Before you,
All veils, all walls
Fallen away as if into vapors.
Released by our dance of words,
Your gentle caresses of ideals and dreams,
Embracing my thoughts
Voices that found a resonance
And made love in a bed of wishes,
Until I melted,
Becoming something beyond myself,
Liquid.
Glimmering.
Growing wings where once was a spine.
You came to me then
In flesh and blood and wonder,
I knew you before I knew you,
Flying on the breath of a shared joy
The world below us glowing
Currents of air
Blowing warm
Taking me higher,
Nearer to the sun
As Icarus
Reveling in the ecstasy
And the madness
Of making a gift of my heart.
Was it passion or conquest?
I didn’t ask.
Fingertips finding a temporary home
Brushing their way
Over lips in morning sun
The assault of a kiss,
Sudden and hard,
Like a dare,
Like proof of a crime about to be committed
The shock of electric blue eyes
Looking lost in a grown man’s face
I turned the man into a mirror
And took it for love
Seeing reflections of my own
And thinking it his,
He had said so
After all
But words are words.

Standing naked to the soul
Without you,
No wings,
No spine,
No words……

About The Sterling LIne

Where does art end and life begin? I don't really see a distinction, but I try to consciously live each moment with enthusiasm, following inspiration where it leads, being open to possibilities and exploring the boundaries of myself, the world I live in and those I meet. Though I attempt to tread softly and respectfully, I often get clumsy, carried away with enthusiasm ... Woman, artist, force of nature and mother... Lives in the SF Bay Area.
